Dr Asamoah is a very experienced dentist with many years of service in
the Public and Private areas. He graduated from Queensland University in 1977 and spent his first 2 years in the public sector in Blackall in Central Queensland. Dr Asamoah/Ken has been married to his wife Lesley for over forty years and has four grown children and seven
Ken has always had a great love for outback Queensland. After returning from his home country of Ghana in 1980, he spent seven years in Dirranbandi which included Dental Clinics in Mungundi, Bollon and Thallon. He then moved up to St George to a private Dental Clinic also serving as the government dentist where he continued visiting Mumgindi..
In 1993, Dr Asamoah moved with his family to Stanthorpe where he has served the community in both the public and private sectors. He moved into the private area in 2003 when he purchased a well-established dental practice now called Gentle Family Dentist. This name came from his reputation as being a very gentle dentist. His focus has always been Preventive Dentistry including helping people to understand how to achieve good oral hygiene and to understand any treatment they may need. He has a great desire to assist children right through to those who are much older. Everyone can enjoy the wonderful benefits of good oral health which can have a huge effect on the rest of the body.
Dr Asamoah has experience in every area of dentistry so that his customers do not have to travel away to have more complex treatments done. He is well experienced in the more complex areas of implants, all types of dentures, root treatments, crowns and bridges, facings/veneers, plus his amazing expertise in extracting teeth where necessary, without the need for any unnecessary surgery/intervention. Dr Asamoah has also studied for many years the complexities of migraines and the TMJD (TemporoMandibular Joint Dysfunction) and is able to help people with these more complex issues.
Ms Vicky Marsh
Senior Dental Assistant
Vicky is our Senior Dental assistant and has been with the Gentle Family Dentist since 2008. She is married to Dirk and has four grown children and two grandchildren. With no previous experience in the medical or dental area, Vicky has excelled in her role as she has been trained by Dr Asamoah during her initial years and as she worked with our two other
dental assistants. She will agree that she never stops learning as she keeps up with the latest changes and treatments.
Vicky is very diligent in all aspects of her role as Senior Dental Assistant. She assists Ken in all treatments in the surgery knowing what is needed and when. She keeps up to date with all the Protocols set for the Practice and is also very diligent to keep all the equipment well maintained. Vicky is in charge of stock and the maintenance of the strict sterilisation procedures that go on constantly during the day. She has an overseeing role working with Rosie to ensure everything is done to our high standard of care.
As everyone who has met Vicky knows she is also very caring and considerate in her role as Dental Nurse which is an adjunct to her role as Dental Assistant. This involves helping each of our patients before, during and after their treatments. She is happy to answer any questions you may have, relaying them back to the dentist as required so that you are confident regarding your treatment.
Ms Rosemary Grassick, BA Accounting (USQ)
Rosemary, or Rosie as everyone calls her, has been working for the Gentle Family Dentist since she was 14. She started with an after school job doing whatever was required. She has done lots of filing, cleaning and as she developed her computer skills, was responsible for inputting most of the old card system into the new Dental Program. Rosie topped her Senior year in Accounting so naturally went off to USQ to complete an accounting degree. During that time she continued to work with us doing the data inputting and other tasks as she was needed.
Rosie has always loved working with us at the Gentle family Dentist and expressed a desire to return one day though she was now an accountant and proceeded into this career. In 2016, when Lesley’s health deteriorated, we asked Rosie if she would like to return as our Receptionist/Bookkeeper/Accountant. Happily for us all she did and has excelled in this role enjoying the diversity of the role which also includes sterilisation and generally helping the Dental Practice to run smoothly. After only a few weeks training, she moved into her new job and has since become very much an essential member of our team.
Everyone who meets Rosie will agree she has a kind, caring and very happy nature and is always pleased to help in whatever way she can. Her accounting skills are especially helpful in her role as she has been able to take over all the book keeping Lesley previously did and so much more.
Mrs Lesley Asamoah
Lesley has been Practice Manager at Gentle Family Dentist since Day 1, joining her husband Ken in the business of helping the people of Stanthorpe to have the best Dental Care possible. She has been married to Ken for over 42 years and has four grown-up children all married, and they have seven beautiful grandchildren. Anyone who’s met Lesley know she adores her grandchildren.
Staff have come and gone over the years but Lesley has managed the Practice through it all. She has taken the Gentle Family Dentist from the old card system to a paperless practice keeping up with the latest in technology to provide the best services available.
She introduced a new Dental Program to enable the staff to quickly access information and have all x-rays and communications ready at their finger tips. This involved training staff in the use of the program and encouraging them to become more computer savvy.
Another aspect of Lesley's role has been to keep up with the latest in Sterilisation Protocols and the Protocols necessary to keep a very high standard of care at the Dental practice. She has written all these protocols and ensured they are strictly adhered to so that the highest standards are achieved at the Gentle Family Dentist.
Unfortunately due to ill-health, in 2016 Lesley has had to take time off from her full-time role and step back so that she could care for her health. She is still able to keep her eye on things in a less obvious way and has complete faith in the wonderful staff she works with.
